First Time User Instructions

KeyParts is a 'Virtual Inventory' application that captures and merges in one database, the inventories for Generation and Transmission companies, Distribution Cooperatives, and Manufacturers and Suppliers. You can quickly learn how to effectively use KeyParts by following the simple steps listed below:

  1. Take a quick tour of the menu items listed on this home page. Note in particular the [Search KeyParts] option.

  2. Click the [Search KeyParts] option. Make your first inventory search by doing the following:

    • Do not 'limit' the search and receive a complete listing of inventory items by clicking [Start Search]

    • From the results page, click [New Search] and try to limit the search by the various options available - Manufacturer, Part Number / Part Classification, etc.

    • When you review the results you will see the Manufacturer Part Number, Quantity and Description of items in the inventory

    • Find an item with available inventory and click on that Description. This will then display another screen with a detail listing of that part and company contact information for that part.

    • Click on the email address to get to the 'Request' page. This page allows you to request stock from the location that has that stock On-Hand. When you [Submit] the request, that location will receive an email message. The 'On-Hand' location will then respond (through this system) whether they will accept the request and ship the stock, or will decline.

  3. Congratulations, you have successfully used KeyParts to find available inventory. To print this ‘Search Results’ screen just use the print button on your browser. To do another lookup, click the [New Search] button.

  4. Members click the [My KeyParts] option and enter your USER ID followed by your PASSWORD. You will be directed to the Inventory Search page which will now have several additional Menu Options.

  5. Again, take a quick tour of the menu options on the middle of the screen. The items here will enable users to edit company contact information, user contacts, preferences or to process 'MY YARD SALE' Items.
